Marion Biega Obituary

Marion H. Biega, 96, of Port Charlotte, FL, Middletown and Westbrook, CT, wife of the late Joseph E. Biega, Sr., passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Port Charlotte. Marion was born in Bridgeport, CT, April 23, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Wudyker) Novak and had resided in Middletown for forty five years.
A former resident of Wallingford, CT, she was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, Class of 1935 and the Hartford Academy of Cosmetology and Hairdressing. Marion and her husband, Joe founded and operated together, Biega Funeral Home in Middletown for forty two years.
During her residency in Middletown and Westbrook, she was a member of the St. Mary's Church Ladies Guild, the Rosary Society, Senior Club, and a Scout Leader, Intermediate and Senior Girl Scout Troops. She was honored by the Girl Scout Council for her services. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Middletown Chamber of Commerce, and a past President and Charter member of the Altrusa Club of Middletown. She retired to Florida where she was active at the Cultural Center, a member of the North Port Bridge Club, Life member of Port Charlotte Shuffleboard Club as pro status competing in many yearly tournaments throughout Florida.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Biega, Jr. of Aruba; Robert Biega and his wife Jacqueline of East Haddam; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Emma Bitel and her daughter in law, Theresa Biega.
Her Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, South Main St., Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Mary Church, 79 S. Main St., Middletown, CT 06457.
