Mary Elizabeth Dimon

1927 - 2013

Mary Elizabeth Dimon, born Mary Elizabeth Guyette, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Middletown, Ct., where she resided since 1941. She was born on June 1, 1927 in St. Alban's, Vt., to Joseph and Anna Guyette. In 1954, she married Enrico "Hank" Campisi and had her first child Lisa Marshall. In 1958, she married her second husband Orville Fried and had two additional children, Michael Fried of Maryland, and her second son Ari Ben Fried, who passed in 1983.
She is survived by her sister Martha Moylan of Washington, D.C., her children Lisa Marshall of Middletown, Ct., and Michael Fried of Frederick, Md., her four grandchildren Brian K. Gartner Jr of Middletown, Lesley Marshall of Middletown, Ashley Fried and Adam Fried of Frederick, Md., her six great grandchildren, Lexus Marshall, Cecile & William Davis of Hartford, and Brian, Dante & Julian Gartner of Middletown.
She had a love for life and lived every day to its fullest; she lived a very interesting and full life, which took her all over the country on incredible journeys; she believed in enjoying the journey and not just rushing to arrive at the destination. She also leaves behind many great friends around the world she met in her journeys.
She was a firm believer in peace, not just peace in our time but peace in all time; she was anti-war, believed in civil rights, and believed in equality for all. She was an avid reader, and a teacher to all. She believed in giving back to the community, the community she loved, worked and lived in for seventy plus years. Her accomplishments are too numerous to list, but a partial listing is as follows: she served as Program Director of the Mattabeseck Audubon Society; she served on the Citizens Advisory Council to the Mayor of Middletown; and she also served as a Commissioner on the Middletown Housing Authority.
Memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to either the Middlesex Memorial Hospital Hospice or the Mattabeseck Audubon Society.
