ROBERTS, SHIRLEY Shirley Anita (Toomey) Roberts, of 111 DeKoven Drive, Middletown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at Middlesex Hospital on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She was born in Middletown on March 10, 1928, daughter of the late Richard and Jennie Toomey. Shirley attended local schools and was employed by the City of Middletown as a Meter Maid and Receptionist/Switchboard Operator at City Hall and retired from Middlesex Hospital as a Unit Secretary. She is survived by her husband Herbert of 65 years, daughter Nancy LaChase of Middletown, son Richard Roberts and his wife Bonnie of Higganum, grandchildren, Kimberly Kehoe and her husband Frank of Portland, Kyle and Kaleigh of Higganum and great-granddaughter Logan Kehoe of Portland. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Genevieve Dale of Middletown. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stanislaus Opalacz and his staff and the staff of IMCU South 2 of the Middlesex Hospital for their loving care of Shirley in her final days. Additionally, the family thanks all of Shirley’s friends at River’s Edge for their love and support. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT, followed by a 10 am. Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.at Biega Funeral Home.
