Salvatore Caracoglia

CARACOGLIA, SALVATORE Salvatore Caracoglia 63 of Hunting Hill Ave Middletown died on Tuesday at the Middlesex Hospital. Born on March 8, 1950 in Melilli, Sicily son of the late Franceso and Giuseppa ( Didato ) Caracoglia. In 1963 he migrated to the United States and settled in Middletown. He attended Middlesex Community College where he was a member of the soccer team and received the Doctor Wheaton Trophy for scoring 21 goals in one season. He continued his education at Eastern Connecticut State University where he was the captain of the soccer team. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Eastern and he went on to receive his Master of Arts from Central Connecticut State University. Here he received the certifcate in Excellence in Foreign Language Studies. He was an active member of the Middletown community. A member of St. Sebastian Church. He was the President of the Garabaldi Italian Society from 1985 to 1990. He was a soccer coach for the Middletown Youth Soccer. He was a Spanish and Italian teacher at Middletown High School for 17 years. He was also a soccer coach at Middletown High School. His passions were soccer, traveling, learning and education. He is survived by his loving family a son and daughter in law Paolo and Marquita Caracoglia of Middletown, a daughter Tanya Caracoglia of Meriden. a sister Rita Caracogliaand his brothers Sergio and Anthony Caracoglia also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Albina Caracoglia. The funeral will be held on Friday at 9 am from the Coughlin- Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown followed by a mass of christian burial in St. Sebastian Church at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm.
