FLANIGAN, THELMA ELIZABETH Thelma Elizabeth “Poopa” (Clark) Flanigan, 75, of Haddam, died Saturday at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Cleveland C. and Jane (James) Clark. Thelma loved driving, everywhere and anywhere for a road trip. She was an artist and enjoyed making stained-glass projects. With all her loves and passions, Thelma’s true devotion was to her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who put the needs of everyone ahead of her own. Thelma is survived by a son William Flanigan, Jr. and his wife Kim of Haddam, four sisters, Ethel Weber of Middletown, Mabel Knick of Higganum, Ruth Rich of Middletown, and Mary Lou Bombaci, of Haddam; two grandchildren, Michael James Sapia and Joseph William Sapia, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Flanigan, two brothers, James Clark, Harold Clark and two sisters, Lillian Goulet and Ann Goff. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be held at Haddam Cneter Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
