Clarence Waldner Jr. Obituary

Lt Cmdr. Clarence G. "Mike" Waldner Jr. (USN Ret.), 83, husband of the late Frances Bartimus Waldner, of Highland Ave., Middletown, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Middlesex Hospital.
Born in Middletown, Sept. 6, 1927, a son of the late Clarence G. Waldner Sr., and the late Edith Zetterholm Waldner, he had attended local schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. A career naval officer, he served for 26 years reaching the rank of lieutenant commander before retiring to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1971where he lived until he returned to Middletown several years ago.
He is survived by his sister Edith Payne and her husband John, of Middletown, his brother Ed Waldner of Middlefield, his brother-in-law Fred Mageterri of Durham, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Anna Magetteri, his brother William Waldner, and sisters-in-law Peg and Joan Waldner.
Funeral services with military honors will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland. To leave an expression of sympathy, kindly visit www.portlandmemorialfh.net.
