Cody Cartwright Obituary

Cody, loved and cherished by his family, has left his little hand print forever on our hearts. Cody taught us so much in the time he was with us, he began every day with kisses and laughter, he loved unconditionally and with all his heart and he delighted in the simple joys of everyday life.
Cody, like all children, loved to play with his trains, toys, brothers, sisters and cousins. Unlike all children, Cody loved to work and understood the pride and sense of accomplishment that comes with it. He loved to help his dad, driving his little gator down to the garden with buckets of water, collecting eggs from the chickens, sweeping up a mess, putting away his toys. He was entirely devoted to his baby sister, Rose, and cared for her with tenderness far beyond his years. Cody's love is a blessing we will treasure every day until we are together again.
Cody leaves his mom and dad, Amy Cartwright and Timothy McCane of Middletown; five brothers, Aaron Lehet, Adam Cartwright, Alex Cartwright, Noah Cartwright, all of Middletown, and Jackson McCane of Norwich; three sisters, Grace Cartwright, Lila Cartwright, and Rose McCane Cartwright, all of Middletown; his maternal grandparents, Maryellen Pearson of Florida and Ken Pearson and his wife, Marylin of Durham; his paternal grandmother, Patricia McCane of Middletown; two great grandmothers, Frances Zabicki of Portland and Carolyn Adams of Middletown; his aunt and uncle, Sheryl and David Doolittle of Middlefield; his aunts, Debi Norton of Chester, Robin Pearson of Portland, and Amanda Barrett of Durham and several more aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 1002 Saybrook Road, Middletown, and burial will follow in Higganum Burr Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours and in lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Cody's memory to Friends of Cody, c/o Lucinda Whitehouse, Liberty Bank, 315 Main St., Middletown, CT 06457.
Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
The Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown, is handling the arrangements.

I don't know you and can only imagine your pain. Losing a child is a horrible thing. I often go through old cemeteries and of course in the olden days many children died. I saw a poignant stone years ago that I always remember. I child about your son's age died and the quote beneath his name read as follows: Budded on Earth to bloom in Heaven.
