Colter Joseph Abely, 20, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Aug. 18, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Massachusetts. Colter was born in New Britain, May 3, 1992, the beloved son of Brian Abely and Chaleen Bloethe Abely of Middletown. He is a 2010 graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown, where he was a member of the wrestling team. Colter was employed by United Oil Recovery in Meriden. Colter lived life to its fullest. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Sasha Abely, of Middletown; his maternal grandparents, Ruth and William Bloethe, of Kensington and his paternal grandmother, Ann Abely and her husband, Joseph, of North Haven; his aunts and uncles, Stephen and Denise Abely, of California, James and Stacey Abely, of Durham, Christopher Abely, of Madison, Shirley Bloethe, of Plainville, William and Marlin Bloethe, of Fishers Island, N.Y., Helen Bloethe and her husband, Kevin Cox, of Bozeman, Mont., Mark Mathena, of East Haddam, Colleen Tuscano, of Gales Ferry, and Donna Richards, of Madison; his cousins, Matthew, Nathan, Therese, John and Janet, Richard, Andrew, Dylan, Tyler, and Mackenzie, Hunter, Stacy and Crystal, Katie, Bill and Ellie, Kerri, Kevin, Kamlin, Kayleen, and Kanyon; and Charlotte "Charlie" Ruth Bloethe and many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Richard Abely. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in The Wallingford Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
