THAZHAMPALLATH, GEORGE VARGHESE George Varghese Thazhampallath, 78, of Middletown, beloved husband of Aleyamma (Abraham) Thazhampallath for fifty-three years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 12 at Hartford Hospital. Born in India, he was the son of the late T.K. and Achamma (Kochukunj) Varghese. George immigrated to the United States in 1968 and had lived in Middletown since 1975. In India, he worked as a Civil Engineer in the State Public Works Department for fifteen years, and after immigrating to the U.S.A., George worked for Northeast Utilities as a design engineer for thirty-three years. George attended Hope Christian Church in North Haven and was a very strong believer in helping people as he supported many missionary projects, especially ones in his native country. George also loved architecture and traveling with his family. He will be greatly missed by his entire family. Along with his wife, George is survived by two daughters, Sheena George and her husband, James, of Middletown, and Beena Thannickal and her husband, Victor, of Birmingham, AL; his son, Geen Thazhampallath and his wife, Erin, of Middletown; eight grandchildren: Leaya, Dylan, Hana, Halle, Luke, Noah, Joshua and Eli; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown, with Rev. Dr. Sunny Philip officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday evening at Cross Street AME Zion Church from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a traditional South Indian Christian Remembrance Service with Song beginning at 6:30 p.m. Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown is handling the arrangements.
