John (Jack) Meehl, 84, of Middletown husband of 62 years of Dolores Gstell Meehl died at Weiss Hospice on February 9th. Born October 4, 1928 in Greenwich, he was the son of the late Julius Meehl and Daisy Perkins Meehl. He and his siblings were raised by their uncle and aunt, the late Edward and Anna Meehl after moving to Middletown. John attended local schools and graduated from Suffield Academy. He worked at CT Valley Hospital as a rehabilitation counselor for 35 years.

He was a beloved family man, proud grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by those who loved and knew him. He enjoyed fishing with his sons and good friends Irv Rau and Ted Rys.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son's, John Jr. (wife Johanne) of Middletown, Bruce (wife Joyce) of Vermont, daughters Ann Poissant (companion Brian Whitehill) of East Haddam, and Carol DeLaurentis of Guilford. He is also survived by a devoted brother David and his wife Marcia. Eight grandchildren, Daniel and Jamie Meehl, Jennifer and Jonathan Meehl, Catherine and Jordan DeLaurentis, Kristen Poissant, Kimberly (husband Robert) Parady and a cherished and beloved great grandchild, Ruby Amelia Parady, the joy of his life. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Ellen and brothers Joseph and William. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
