Robert Hunter Sr. Obituary
HUNTER, ROBERT ANDREW, SR. Robert Andrew Hunter, Sr., 82, of Middletown, beloved husband of Mary Alice (Dixon) Hunter for sixty-three years, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Jesse James and Annie Eliza (Smith) Hunter. Robert lived in Middletown all of his life, attended Middletown schools, and was a member of Cross Street AME Zion Church. He worked for Charles Parker for thirty-two years, was the swing manager at McDonalds in Middletown for twenty-five years, at Weather Shield for a few years and Midco for ten years. Robert was very well known in the community and will be missed by many. Along with his wife, Robert is survived by five sons, James Dixon of Stamford, Jesse Hunter (Debbie), Kevin Hunter (Dana), Gary Hunter (Shirley) and Brian Hunter (Laurie), all of Middletown; three daughters, Candy Bonner (Michael), Linda Blake (George) and Sandra Wiggins (Larry), all of Middletown; a brother, Carl Hunter of Middletown; six sisters, Ruby Ready, Elizabeth Humphrey, Jessie Mae Yopp, Ada Hunter, Annie Yopp, all of Middletown; and Marie Alston of Meriden; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hunter of Middletown; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Robert A. Hunter, Jr., and William Hunter; a brother, Willie Hunter; a sister, Margaret Brown; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Hunter; and a great-great-grandchild, Kahlia Behm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2 at 11:00am at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in Indian Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning before the service from 10:00 to 11:00am at the church. Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown, is handling the arrangements.
