Obituary Condolences

NYTCH, ALEXANDER J. Alexander J. Nytch, 71, of Durham, beloved husband of Joanne (Sansevero) Nytch, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Anna (Nytch) Reynolds and her husband Francis Reynolds. He served as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist with the US Army during the Vietnam War Era. Prior to his retirement, Alexander worked as a metallurgical technician at Pratt & Whitney for 38 years. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League, a founding member and treasurer of the Durham-Middlefield (Coginchaug) Soccer Club and served as a Scoutmaster for Durham Boy Scout Troop #27. He loved the outdoors, his tractors, gardening and bee keeping. His passion was reading; especially history and non-fictional works. Above all, he enjoyed being around his family and friends and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne, his daughter, Jessica A. Gill and her fiancé, Christopher Miller, of Atlanta; his son, Christopher J. Nytch, and his wife, Noelia Báez Rodríguez, of Puerto Rico; sister, Barbara Graham of Carlsbad, CA; brother, James Nytch of Binghamton, NY; sister, Debbie Whitney of Binghamton, NY; four grandchildren: Ashton Alexander Gill, Braden William Gill, Leonardo Andrés Nytch Báez and Eleonor Rose Nytch Báez; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to say a special thank you to the staff at Hartford and Middlesex Hospitals for their exceptional care and support of Alex during his illness. The Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday (June 30th) at 11 a.m. at St. Colman Church, Hubbard St., Middlefield, CT. Burial, with military honors, will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
