Obituary Condolences

ULIANO, MILDRED “MILLY” (POMFRET) Mildred “Milly” (Pomfret) Uliano, 73, of Venice, FL, formerly of Bartholomew Rd., Middletown, beloved wife of Richard R. Uliano, died Monday (July 14, 2014) at Harbor Chase Assisted Living, Venice, FL. She was born in Washington D.C., the daughter of the late William J. and Mildred (O’Brien) Pomfret Sr. Milly had a distinguished career with the Middletown Board of Education, highlighted by her dedication as the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She will also be remembered for her love of arts and crafts. She and her husband, Dick, created the highly successful craft business they named ‘Mostly Milly.’ Her work was well known for the unique and beautiful dolls and wooden creations sold at the many craft fairs they attended. Milly will most be remembered, though, for her infectious smile and endless energy. Milly was very active throughout her life and was always open to try new things. She and Dick took up snow skiing just after she turned forty, and they skied all over the country. Later, she and Dick built a home in Florida, where she discovered golf. She quickly picked up the game and became one of the better golfers in her Women’s Leagues. She enjoyed playing year round in Florida and Connecticut. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Richard S. Uliano, and her daughter Cathleen Elliot and husband Michael, all of Middletown; her brothers, Denis Pomfret of Watertown, William Pomfret, Jr. and his wife Barbara of East Hampton; sisters, Anne Cahoon and her husband, Luke of East Lyme, and Sharon D’Amico and her husband, Tony of Fairfield; five grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (July 22nd) at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Middletown. Burial will be in the State Veterans’ Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Philanthropy Department, Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
