Roger L. Shaffer, 74, of Barton, VT passed away at his home on February 12, 2013. He was born April 12, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland a son of Wade and Georgeanna (Kidwell) Shaffer. He married the former Dale Allen who predeceased him.
Roger was owner of the Hangman Frame Shop in Hardwick, VT. He worked for Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, where he created sets for stage productions. He also worked for the Home Depot in CT. He moved to this area in 1990 where Roger was very involved with the restoration of Barton Memorial Building Theatre. He also created the Branford ---NO "Art", just Branford Festival Festival in Branford, CT. As a young man Roger and his first wife, Ursel traveled cross country showing the Batik paintings that they created.
He is survived by his children: Erik Shaffer of Avon, CT, and Wendy Shaffer of New Haven, CT.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: David and Sydney Shaffer. He is survived by his step children, Laurel, Heather and Sam, of CT and Jesse of NY. He is survived by his former wife Ursel Shaffer of Middletown, CT. He was predeceased by a brother George Shaffer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 12 Elm Street, Barton, VT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the funeral.
