1954 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Oppenheimer, Charles S. Charles S. Oppenheimer (Chic), 59, beloved husband of Lynne (Johnson) Oppenheimer passed away peacefully on January 28, 2014 at Gaylord Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 11, 1954, son of Martin G. and Jeanne Oppenheimer of Cromwell. He attended Loomis School in Windsor, CT, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and Wesleyan University on Middletown, CT. Thereafter he was employed as a computer systems analyst at Yale University, Aetna Insurance and The Hartford Insurance in CT. He was a member of The Jammers Wheelchair Rugby Team through Gaylord Hospital and he competed in tournaments throughout the Northeast. Besides his wife, Chic is survived by his sisters, Cory Malmberg and her husband Jeffrey of Cromwell, Emmy Pavelka and her husband Bob of Killingworth, an aunt, Ruth O. Shapiro of West Hartford, nephews, John and his wife Violet Gagnon of Berlin, Timothy Gagnon of Middletown, Matthew Gilman of East Hampton, Niece, Heather Smith and her husband Stephen of East Hampton, great nephews, Trevor and Connor Gagnon of Berlin and Mason and Trenton Gagnon of East Hampton. His wife and family will never be able to thank his extended family at Gaylord Hospital for the exceptional care and genuine love that they gave Chic. They made Chic’s time at Gaylord very special and he knew that he was never alone. A funeral service will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown. Friends may call prior to the service on Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home.
