William "Roy" Franklin(1919 - 2017)

William "Roy" Franklin, 98, of Smyrna, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2017.

Born Jan. 29, 1919 in Page, W.V., to the late John Lawson Franklin and Lilly Mae Beckett Franklin, Roy worked in the coal mines of West Virginia for 22 years. He moved to Delaware and worked for Chrysler for five years. He then worked in maintenance for 14 years at St. Andrews School in Middletown.

At the age of 14 Roy became a Christian and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. One of his favorite bible passages among many was Psalm 93.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Elizabeth Meadows, his sons Roy Lee and Paul Mark; eight brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his son James S. Franklin (Louise) of Smyrna; daughter Linda Gayle Wise of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, the Rev. Benjamin Troy Franklin (Pat) of Aiken, S.C.; six Grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services and Interment were held on Sunday, July 9, in Oak Hill, W.V. at High Lawn Memorial Park.
