George B. Hughes Obituary
George B. Hughes, 75, of Townsend, DE went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2nd surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 4, 1939, George spent his entire life residing in the Townsend/ Middletown, DE area and graduated from Middletown High School in 1957.

George proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving in Germany. He made a career as a Mason and retired from the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 PA/ DE in 2008. He attended Liberty Baptist Church of Bear, De, was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3792-Sgt William Lloyd Nelson, The American Legion, Inc. David C. Harrison Post #14 and was a Master Mason, belonging to the Jackson Lodge AF & AM of Delaware City. George was also an avid Phillies and Nascar fan.

He is survived by his wife Frances R. Hughes, sister, Peggy Carter, daughter Kim DiPasquantonio (Tony) and son Todd Pleasanton (Marlene). Grandchildren, Amanda Dzwilewski (Chris), Gabrielle and Savanah DiPasquantonio, Brittany and Hunter Pleasanton, Matt Pennington, Great-grandchildren Andrew and Alyssa Dzwilewski and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Betty Hughes, brother, Jim Hughes, and sister Mary Lou Mandes.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the staff of The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Delaware Hospice for their outstanding care and support.

Visitation with be held at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709 from 6-8pm on Sunday, June 8th. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9th at 11:30 at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute at 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
