CORTLAND – Raymond Eugene Bennett, 61, of Cortland, Ill., passed away June 25 at his home after a three-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
A lifelong resident of the Cortland and Sycamore area, Ray worked at Ideal Industries for 32 years as an automation technician, working for engineering. On the side, he and his father created CnR toys, which designed, built and sold farm toy implements.
Ray is survived by his wife, Regina (Lusz) Bennett of 32 years.
He also leaves behind his parents, Charles and Alice Bennett of Sycamore; two sisters, Linda and Andrew Sauer of Mishicot, Wis., and Sue Bennett of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Christopher and Carmen Bennett of Aurora, Colo., and Nicholas and Tammy Bennett of Pecatonica; three daughters, Deandrea and Stacey Tallitsch of Covington, La., Jamie and Adam Music of Lakemoor, and Rayna and Ryan Beasley of Amboy; and nine grandchildren, Cristian (18), Raven (18), Kaitlyn (18), Robin (16), Kyle (12), Charles (11), London (9), Alixandra (6) and Cameron (3).
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. June 27 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in Sycamore, with the Rev. Bob Weinhold officiating, as well as remarks by friends and family. A fellowship meal will be shared in the church immediately following the services. The family will receive friends in their Cortland home after the fellowship meal.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family through the Raymond Bennett Memorial Fund set up at The National Bank and Trust Company in Sycamore. A portion will be donated to support services for cancer patients.
