GLENN S. WOJCIK Born: June 30, 1943; in Chicago, IL Died: June22, 2016: in Sycamore, IL Glenn S. Wojcik, 72, of Sycamore died peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his home. He was born June 30, 1943 in Chicago to Stanley and Edwina (Niemczura) Wojcik. He married Grace M. Wilson on Nov. 19, 1966 in Downers Grove. Glenn was a veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam Era (1967-68). He fought a long, courageous battle as he was exposed to Agent Orange, which lead to multiple health issues over the years. Glenn graduated from Notre Dame High School in Chicago and received his Master's degree in School Administration from Northern Illinois University. He was employed at the Sheridan Correctional Center for over 30 years as a teacher and program administrator for Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, retiring in 2000. He was the most loving and supportive husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. He was our hero. He cherished his time with his family, grandchildren, and his longtime "Panera" buddies. He was a former coach for his children's sports teams and a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 40. He was also a former Commander for the Sycamore VFW. He had a passion for fishing, history, reading, and all Chicago sports teams. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Grace; five children, Kathleen (David) McCarville of Roscoe, Tom Wojcik of Chicago, Mike (Nicole) Wojcik of Rapid City, SD, Maureen (Brian) Nicolls of Stillman Valley, and Dan (Jennifer) Wojcik of Kirkland; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Mark and Jennifer McCarville, Jacob, Ashley, Ryan, Sydney and Sadie Wojcik; three brothers, Michael, Joseph and Albert Wojcik; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter in infancy, Teresa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 27th at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, with Rev. Paul Lipinski officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with full military rites.
