SYCAMORE – Gary S. Taylor, 63, of Sycamore, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at home.
Born Oct. 4, 1949, in Bedford County, Va., the son of Billy T. and Louise (Coleman) Taylor, Gary was a veteran
of the U.S. Marine Corps
, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a plumber for C&H Plumbing for 20 years, and then worked as a DeKalb County building and plumbing inspector for seven years.
He was married to Idella Jones for six years, and he was with his second wife, Karla Gommel, for 20 years.
He is survived by his children, Gary S. Taylor II of Virginia, Brandon (Jennifer) Taylor of Maryland and Sean Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Jordan, Alexa, Amanda, Jacob, Isabelle, Katie, Hailee, Sean II and Landon; mother, Louise Morgan of Virginia; and cousins, Barry, Ed, Jim, Nancy and Chris.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Brenda and Sherma.
The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb. Burial of cremated remains will be at later date in Virginia. The memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Joe Gastiger officiating, and with full military honors by the DeKalb County Honor Guard. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
