SYCAMORE – Guy Dwayne Stone, 57, of Sycamore, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, comfortably at his home.
Born Sept. 28, 1955, at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash., the son of Ronald D. and Barbara J. (Miller) Stone, Guy married Julie J. Knudson on Sept. 19, 1991, in Sycamore.
He was a part owner of H.I. Stone & Sons Inc., the family-owned well-drilling business for a number of years. Before that he was employed by Anaconda Wire & Cable, Sycamore. Guy enjoyed the fabrication and restoration of antique cars and street rods and was, for many years, a member of the committee for Turning Back Time Car Show in Sycamore.
The family would like to thank Dr. Roger Maillefer and everyone at the Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and DeKalb County Hospice for their excellent care of Guy over the past five years. Guy's talkative, outgoing and inspiring nature facilitated friendships with nurses and other patients, where they would enjoy the companionship, conversations and movies in the community room and support group meetings at the Kishwaukee Cancer Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Katrina of Sycamore; parents, Ronald and Barbara Stone of Sycamore; brothers, Brad (Kim) Stone of Cortland and Roger (Marcy) Stone of Batavia; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Freida and Herald Stone Sr.; maternal grandparents, Dolores and Bill Miller; mother-in-law, Betty Simmons; and father-in-law, Clarence "Smiley" Knudson.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at Anderson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Guy D. Stone Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
