JESSE J. BRIDGES(1947-2012)

DeKALB – Jesse James Bridges, 65, of DeKalb, Ill., on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb, made a peaceful transition into the welcoming arms of his Savior. Jesse was a passionate, caring educator who loved to play tennis.
Born July 5, 1947, in Crawford, Miss., the son of Willie Ann (Stalling) and Jesse Bridges Sr., he graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1965 and Northern Illinois University in 1969, receiving his bachelor's. In 1972, he received his Master of Science in education; he also pledged Kappa Alpha Psi. He was an eighth-grade teacher for Aurora East School District 131 for 33 years, teaching math at Cowherd Middle School, until his retirement in 2003.
He loved sports and coached Special Olympics tennis and worked for Opportunity House. He enjoyed cycling with his brothers, playing football in high school and basketball with friends. He attended Christ Temple Baptist Church in Markham, where he was a junior usher. More about him can be found at
He counted among the most important people in his life his mother, Willie Ann; father, Jesse; three brothers, LeRoy, Donald and Darrel; sisters-in-law, Joyce, Diane and Lynette; nieces, Alexandria, Dorian, LaKeisha and Brianna; nephews, Donald Jr. and Danté; great-niece, Kayla; and great-nephews, Malik and Dorien. Jesse also is survived by his ex-wife and close friend, Barbara Lynch and her family.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with Pastor Levell Kinsey of Lansing Church of Christ.
