MARGARET M. WOODRUFF(1919-2012)

SYCAMORE – Margaret May (Flint) Woodruff, born Sept. 10, 1919, in Bellflower, Ill., died peacefully on Oct. 6, 2012, at home in Sycamore.
At her death, she was surrounded by family and friends and, on the day of her death, had experienced her first Skype phone call with her granddaughter in Spain. She lived well, loved well and died well.
In addition to her devotion to her family, Margaret was a music and English teacher in the northern Illinois region for many years, and was an active participant in local causes; most notably, efforts to protect active farm land from development.
She is survived by all six of her children, Arnold (Diane) of Richmond, Va., Margaret of Coos Bay, Ore., Larry (Claudia) of Orland Park, Emily (John) Almeida of Bloomington, Martin (LeAnn) of Monticello and Kenneth (Mary Jo) of Indianapolis, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (two sets of twins); and four nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Bond Woodruff; and sister, Mable Wallen.
Margaret, considerate of others to the end, has continued the family tradition of donating her body to science, therefore there will be no formal viewing or visitation.
A memorial service celebrating and honoring Margaret will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 3, 2012, at The Federated Church of Sycamore.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the A. Bond and Margaret F. Woodruff Scholarship Award at Northern Illinois University.
Arrangements were entrusted to Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115. To send an online condolence, visit www.RonanMooreFinch.com; 815-758-3841.
