1924 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Calvin Dawes Holt, 87, of DeKalb, Ill., died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.
Born Oct. 9, 1924, in Princeton, Mo., the son of Schuyler and Rosa (Browning) Holt, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Calvin was formerly employed by Wurlitzer Piano Co., Anaconda Wire & Cable, and Turner Brass. He was a member of American Legion Post 66 and the Moose Club, both of DeKalb.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Holt of Geneseo and Steven (Dana) Holt of DeKalb; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Sherri (Ken) Click of DeKalb and Veronica Zimmerman of Madelia, Minne.; stepson, Jerry King of Sycamore; many step-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Janice) Holt of Lebanon, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Reedy of Orange Park, Fla., and Clara Rose Cowden of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Gibson; three brothers, Lloyd, Herman and Earl Dean Holt; and a sister, Velma Mattson.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. David Glick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors by DeKalb County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
