SHABBONA – Constance E. Meyers, 85, of Shabbona, Ill., formerly of Genoa and Carpentersville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center, DeKalb.|
Born July 20, 1927, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Louis and Mary (Burns) Kithcart, Constance was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She married Paul C. Meyers on Sept. 13, 1952, in Mansfield.
Constance was employed as a certified nurse's aide at Sherman Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Daughters of the Nile, Faith United Methodist Church in Genoa and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by five children, Paula (John) Skinner of Elk Mound, Wis., Lawrence (Pam) Meyers of Renssalaer, Ind., Mark (Kim) Meyers of Roanoke, Va., Walter (Deanna) Meyers of DeKalb and Wendy (Paul) Harms of Genoa; and 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1986; parents; one son, William; one grandson, Joshua Skinner; and her sister, June Burkhart.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa, with Pastor Jim Allen of Shabbona United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Elgin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa.
A memorial has been established for the DeKalb County Hospice in care of Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL 60135.
