Dean A. Channing, 79, of Lindenwood, Illinois, died Sunday, January 7, 2018, in Camdenton, Missouri.

He was born April 23, 1938, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Downing) Channing. Dean married Leila Palmer on March 11, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. Dean was a veteran of the United States Air Force where his duties included trouble shooting equipment. He was an electrical engineer and the owner/operator of an audio and visual equipment company. Dean was a member of the Church of Christ in Sycamore. He enjoyed fishing and, in his younger years, golfing. Dean enjoyed walking in the woods on his property and observing the wildlife with his dog, Snoopy. He and his wife enjoyed the many travels they took together. Dean was an avid storyteller.

He is survived by his wife, Leila; his children, Cindy (Dave) Carlson, Jill (Jeff) Werrbach, Roger (Diana) Channing, Claire (Michael) Hathaway; grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Elizabeth, Justin, Jordan, Hannah, Haley, Shea, Cooper, Jaden; great-grandchildren, Kennady, Jacob, Kassidy, Tristan, Ivy, Beau, Alex, Grant; sisters, Rosanne Howe, Wendy Koehnke; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Branson; and his parents.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Phillip Vermillion of the Church of Christ officiating, and with full military honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services, Friday, January 12, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dean A. Channing Memorial Fund, addressed to the Channing Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
