1958 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
SYCAMORE – Dennis James Welsh, 54, of Sycamore, Ill., passed away Dec. 12, 2012.
Born April 4, 1958, to Clement and Rita (Clancy) Welsh, Dennis was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, attending grade school at St. Patrick's Catholic School and graduating from Dubuque Senior High School in 1977.
Dennis married his wife, Diann, on Oct. 10, 1992, in Phoenix. They moved their family to Sycamore in 1996.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Diann; sons, Dustin (Kristy) Williams of Sacramento, Calif., and Timothy Welsh of Sycamore; daughters, Ashley (Cory) Divine and Stephanie (Casey LaBorn) Welsh, both of Sycamore; mother, Rita (Clancy Welsh) Blewett of Dubuque; brothers, Daniel (Nora) Welsh of Knoxville, Tenn., Timothy (Tracey) Welsh of Santa Clara, Utah, Kevin Welsh and Harry (Peggy) Blewett of Dubuque; sisters Trisha (Steven) Shallow of Corvallis, Ore., and Mary Welsh of Warrenville; mother-in-law, Juanita (Eldon) Simmelink-Hawkins of Sun City, Ariz.; brothers-in-law, Richard Simmelink of Dade City, Fla., Michael Simmelink of Vancouver, Wash., and Danny Simmelink of Phoenix; sister-in-law, Mary (Cres) Fregoso of Grand Haven, Mich.; granddaughter, Jadeline Williams of Sacramento; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clement Welsh; a stepfather, Harry Blewett; a brother, Michael Welsh; father-in-law, Harley Simmelink; and brother-in-law, Steven Simmelink.
The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Ruetten and the caring staff members at The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Bethany Rehabilitation Center for the loving care and support provided to Dennis and Diann over the years.
A visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, visitation continues from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a prayer service at St. Patrick Parish, 1245 Iowa St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001. A private burial service will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, and mailed to Butala Funeral Home, P.O. Box 331, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
