DeKALB – Floyd W. Austin, 77, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born Jan. 25, 1936, in Trempealeau, Wis., the son of Helmer and Julia (Wik) Austin, Floyd married Betty J. Nelson on June 29, 1957, in Trempealeau.
Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Floyd was a member of the American Legion, was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodcrafts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughters, Cindy Gould and Valerie (David) Thurnau; son, Gregory Austin; grandchildren, Jennifer Arnold, Erin Arnold, Steven Gould, Christopher (Angela) Thurnau, Kristan Arnold, Taryn Austin, Trevor Austin and Nick Thurnau; great-granddaughters, Sophia, Emelia, Kendahl and Fiona; brother, Milford Austin; sister, Ruth (Lyman) Swaim; and other family and friends too numerous to list.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and son-in-law.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with Pastor Pat Aldridge officiating, and with full military honors by the DeKalb County Honor Guard. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory. Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, until the time of service at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
