1920 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
GENOA – Gertrude R. MacLaughlin, 92, of Genoa, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Crimson Pointe Senior Living Center in Rockford.
Born Nov. 7, 1920, in DeKalb, the daughter of Alfred and Maude (Harms) Raymond, she was a graduate of DeKalb High School.
Gertrude worked at Automatic Electric in Genoa, retiring after many years of service. She was a member of the Bel-Mar Country Club in Belvidere and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Survivors include her daughter, Clifteen (John) James of Rockford; four grandchildren, Carrie Lyle (Terry) Craig, Ritchie (Angela) Lyle, Joseph (Cindy) James and John James; six great-grandchildren, Johanna Craig, Pat, Lyndsi and Annessa Lyle, T.J. and Tawny Furman; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Raymond; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert MacLaughlin; great-grandson, John James Jr.; three brothers, Ken, Glenn and Earl Raymond; and one sister, Eleanor Sallberg.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, with the Rev. James P. Freund officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
