James L. Patterson, 70, of Kirkland, IL died on Monday, December 15, 2014, in his home.
He was born on May 12, 1944, in Elgin to Ralph and Bernice (Quigley) Patterson. James married Roxanne Glendenning on October 3, 1975. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2010. He served in the United States Coast Guard. Jim worked for Chrysler Corporation, Blake Oil, Elmer Larson, LLC, and as road commissioner for Franklin Township. He owned and operated Patterson Auction-Realty for over 26 years. Jim was a lifelong resident of Kirkland and truly committed to his community. He secretly aspired to be a cowboy.
Survived by children, James L. (Angela) Patterson of Collingswood, NJ, and Cindi (Trent) Widener of Marysville, WA; grandchildren, Joseph, Henry and John Piper and Ella Marie Patterson of Collingswood, NJ, Alannah, Nathan, and Vivian- Lyn Julene Widener of Marysville, WA; first wife and mother of his children, Vicki Seitter; sisters, Bess (Ken) Andersen of Sycamore and Lydia (Steve) Johnson of Davis.
Predeceased by his parents; step-father, Harold Herrmann; and son, Roy Patterson in 2008.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 S. Fifth Street, Kirkland, IL. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, and 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Burial in Maple Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Kirkland Historical Society, 309 South 5th St., Kirkland, IL 60146 or Hiawatha High School Music Dept., 410 South First St, Kirkland, IL 60146.

I sure remember him. I used to go to his auctions I also would see him in the resturants in Kirkland. He was always friendly.

Jim was kind enough to take me out in his twp pickup a few years ago when I became a county board member. He and I spent a couple hours touring township road projects, most in places I would never have seen normally. I was always glad to visit w/him at lunch on occasion.
