DeKALB – Lesley Lynne Bonney, 65, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. She died at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center after a brief battle with cancer.

Born March 6, 1947, in Oldham, England, the daughter of Derrick R. and Amy (Wood) Harris, she married David W. Bonney on Aug. 11, 1965, at St.Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire, England.
Lesley, David and their children moved to DeKalb June 7, 1968, from England. Lesley started her career in health care at DeKalb Public Hospital in 1969. She continued as a certified nurse assistant at Kishwaukee Community Hospital until her retirement in 2001. Lesley pursued caring for people as a volunteer in the Kishwaukee Community Hospital Auxiliary.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at the cancer center and hospital.
They also extend thanks to DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, nurses, physical therapists and staff. Lesley and David are extremely grateful for the wonderful care provided by the entire staff of DeKalb County Hospice.
She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Kerry; mother, Amy Harris; sister, Diane (Kevin) Runnells; brother, Simon (Phyllis) Harris; and special caring niece, Amy Runnells. She also is survived by numerous nephews and nieces in America and England.
She was preceded in death by her father, Derrick R. Harris; and her son, Richard D. Bonney.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb. Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb.
