ROCHELLE – Marvin Charles McGee, 80, of Rochelle, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Rochelle Community Hospital.|
Born Sept. 3, 1933 in Rochelle, the son of Russell Marvin and Mabel Irene (Childers) McGee, Marvin married Patricia Ann Foster June 12, 1954, at Creston Methodist Church.
A 1952 graduate of Rochelle High School, Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who retired after 20 years of service. He was a DeKalb County Animal Control officer for 15 years. In Arizona, he later drove a school bus and worked as a patient-transfer driver.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, James (Sheryl) McGee of Rochelle and Rebecca (Jack) Halverson of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Christopher (Kimberly) McGee, Scott (Kristi Smoczyk) McGee, and Daniel and Sarah Halverson; great-granddaughter, Emmaline McGee; sisters Joyce (Gene) Bialas of West Brooklyn and Diane (Rick) Smith of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with Chaplain. Judy Williams of RCH officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors by the DeKalb County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at Anderson Funeral Home.
