DeKALB – Mary Jean (Conlin) McCabe, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away peacefully July 1, 2013, at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, Wis.|
Born Oct. 20, 1922, in DeKalb, she attended St. Mary's School and graduated from DeKalb High School. She married Thomas McCabe in 1950 and for more than two decades joined him in the ownership and operation of The Shamrock in DeKalb. Mary Jean was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She loved spending time with her family and traveled often to Wisconsin to visit.
She is survived by three sons, Tom (Shirley), Mike (Nancy) and Edward; four granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Mary Conlin; two brothers, Chuck and Jim; and a sister, Marge Roach.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday July 5, at St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. James Parker. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, until the time of the service at the church.
