DeKALB – Ruth J. Cienciwa, 84, of DeKalb, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, in the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.|
Born on June 2, 1929 in Chicago, she was the daughter of John and Mae (Jazdzewski) Brezinski.
Ruth was married to the late Edmund J. Straszewski, she later married Edward Cienciwa. Ruth worked for a wire binding factory in Chicago for many years. She has lived in the DeKalb community since 1996 moving here from Chicago. Ruth was a member of St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church in Chicago and she was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.
Survivors include son, Lawrence Straszewski of Springfield, Va.; a daughter, JoEllen Straszewski, of DeKalb; granddaughter, Sabrina Straszewski of New Mexico; great-grandson, Shawn L. Straszewski, of New Mexico.; her adopted family, Larry (Mary) Lipps, of DeKalb; and their children Vincent and his wife Brandy and their children Samantha, Andrew, Kymberly, Catherine Lipps, and Susan Lipps.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Edmund and Edward, and sister Colette.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in the Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with the Rev. James Parker of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles at 1 p.m. Monday. The visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in the Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home.
