DeKALB – Terry Ray Gile, 67, of DeKalb, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born June 5, 1946, in DeKalb, the son of Ray S. and Madge C. (Kennedy) Gile, Terry married Linda Rae Robertson on Oct. 3, 1964 in DeKalb.
Terry worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and technician and retired with 36 years of service at the DeKalb Post Office. He was currently employed by St. Mary Catholic Parish of DeKalb. He enjoyed fishing, trap-shooting and especially bowling. A Bowling Hall of Fame member for his "800 series," he also had 68 "700 series" to his credit. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He possessed a kind heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Gina (Brian) Maves of O'Fallon and Kelly (Jim) Whitney of Sycamore; grandchildren, Mallory, Kelsey, Mitchell and Jenna Maves, Katie McGowan, Kayla Whitney and Jake Gile; great-grandson, Spencer McGowan; sisters, Kaye Anderson of Naperville, and Rita (George) Anderson and Jo Ellen (Roger) Montavon, both of DeKalb; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Tom Anderson; and brother-in-law, Gerald Anderson.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with Fr. James W. Parker of St. Mary Catholic Parish, DeKalb, officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Afton Cemetery, Afton Township, DeKalb.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Anderson Funeral Home.
