DeKALB – Catherine E. (Kenner) Kellogg, 103, of DeKalb, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center in DeKalb. |
Born May 2, 1909, the daughter of James J. and Effie M. (Killian) Kenner, Catherine graduated from West Aurora High School in 1927. She married Frank A. Kellogg on Feb. 26, 1928, in Aurora. They moved to DeKalb in 1995 from the family farm in Sandwich.
She was a member of the Somonauk United Presbyterian Church where she was voted in as first woman elder. Catherine was a 600 series bowler. She was very active with The Red Cross during World War II, and she also volunteered a lot of her time at the Sandwich hospital. Catherine enjoyed gardening and sewing clothes for her family.
She is survived by two children, Dorothy Donaldson of DeKalb and Thomas Floyd (Joyce) Kellogg of Starkville, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Karen (Gary) Hackbarth, Barbara Lynn, Robert F. Donaldson, Richard W. (Charlene) Donaldson, Sandra (Ted) Wade, William H. (Yong) Kellogg and Catherine A. Kellogg; 12 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles E. Kenner of Montgomery.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank A. Kellogg; and eight siblings, James, Effie, Ethel, John A., Mary, John H. "Bill", Ella "Lovie" and Henry.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Richter of Westminster Presbyterian Church in DeKalb officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, from noon until the time of service. Memorials can be made to the family in care of the funeral home to be established at a later date.
