DeKALB – Doris Ann Malone, 78, of DeKalb, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born Nov. 21, 1934, in Pulaski, Va., the daughter of Miles and Reba (Hughes) Mabe, Doris married James E. Malone on April 4, 1964, in Chicago.
Employed by Mascal Electric in DeKalb for 15 years, she had worked earlier for Wilmer Baker Plumbing. Doris was a member of Cathedral of Praise Church in DeKalb.
She was a great cook and enjoyed making special dishes for her family; she was known for her biscuits and gravy, stuffed peppers and chili.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Reynaldo) Torres of DeKalb, Preston (Shari) Malone of Shabbona and Anthony (Ashley) Malone of Cherry Valley; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Denver (Mary Jo) Mabe of Clinton, Tenn., Larry Mabe of North Carolina, Patsy Holt of Clinton and Shirley (Charles) Farmer of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Rocky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Garland; parents; and brothers, Miles Jr. and Curtis.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Eric Wyzard of Cathedral of Praise officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Anderson Funeral Home.
