STEWARD – Kent Clifford Macklin, 63, of Steward, Ill., passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at home.|
He was born Aug. 27, 1949, in DeKalb, the son of Clifford and Clarice (Oleson) Macklin of Steward.
He was a lifelong resident of Steward. Growing up he was a member of the Steward Boy Scout Troop and active in First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lee. He graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1967 and participated in farming operations as an adult. His interests were in electronics, trains and gardening.
His family and friends will remember him as a kind, thoughtful, intelligent person who lived a life of multiple disabilities with grace, humor, and dignity.
He is survived hy his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Thomas Johnson, and niece, Clare Johnson, all of Texas; and many cousins.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents and beloved dog, Sandy.
Kent's family thanks the many caring people who made his life easier.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lee, 240 W. Hardanger Gate in Lee. The Rev. Christopher Heller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the church.
