Harold J. "Jack" Peterman Obituary
State Rep. Harold J. "Jack" Peterman, 74, of Milford, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at the Country Rest Home, Greenwood.

Jack was born in Milford, the son of the late George R. and Lucille (West) Peterman. A life-long resident of the Milford area, Jack graduated from Milford High School and earned his living in agriculture – one of the few serving state legislators with farming experience. He was a former board member of the Frederica Senior Center, a past president of the Murderkill Lions Club in Frederica, serving for 30 years, and a former board member of the Food Bank of Delaware. He attended the Milford Church of the Nazarene for over 30 years.

Jack was best known for his activity in Delaware Republican politics. First elected to the State House of Representatives in 2010, he was finishing his third, two-year term. Previously, he had a long tenure serving on Kent County Levy Court as both a commissioner and president. Although he was active in supporting many organizations during his tenure, he had a special place in his heart for the support of the volunteer fire service within the 33rd District.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Sandra Ellingsworth Peterman and his precious granddaughter Madison Scot Peterman.

He is survived by his sons Barry L. Peterman and Scott Peterman and his wife Carrie; three sisters, Sarah Gilford, Jean Wintjen, and Joyce McDowell; four brothers, Donald Peterman, Joseph Peterman, David Peterman and Lloyd Peterman; and three grandchildren, Keith Peterman, Eric Peterman and Remington "Remi" Peterman.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at the Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 N.W. Salevan Place, Milford, where funeral services will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford.

Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford. Condolences may be sent and shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
