Irving Bovis Obituary
MILFORD - Irving Bovis died on April 17, 2015 in Boise, Idaho. He was 90.

Born in Uniontown, PA, he was an avid baseball player in his early years and never lost his love of sports.

He attended Southwestern College and San Diego State University.

Mr. Bovis retired as a Chief Radioman from the U.S. Navy having served with distinction in three wars: WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Newly enlisted, he served on a Liberty Ship in the Atlantic during WWII and on several other ships in the Pacific throughout his career including the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany and USS Monticello. After retiring from the military, he earned a second retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, working 20 years in Coronado, CA.

He was active in his community wherever he lived: managing Little League baseball teams, participating in the Optimist Club and serving as President of Kiwanis Club. He also served his local police departments as a member of the Reserve Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) in Coronado, and also helping to found a similar group in Milford when he retired there in 1986.

Irving was preceded in death by his wife, Marrilyn Jamison Bovis in 2008.

He is survived by his son John Bovis and family of Boise, ID; daughter Amy LeCompte of Boise, ID; son David LeCompte and family of San Diego, CA and brother Julius Bovis.

A service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Private family services were held in Boise.
