My dear friend and brother,
My condolences to Rita and her family. I feel for your deep loss, John was a dear friend and brother to me. He was an uncle to my children, who referred to him as Uncle Johnny. Having served with him in the Navy starting in 1959, I realized he was truly a friend and brother to me.(which I cannot overstate.) I will truly miss talking on the phone, sending emails, and visiting with him and his family.

As my father's partner in Detectives, our family has the chance to get to know Jack on a personal level. He has such a great and very Irish sense of humor. He spoke of his sons with a great sense of pride and adoration and his sense of family was evident. When I was contemplating nursing school, Jack would always talk to me about his Rita and how she worked as a nurse. There was no need to disclose his love and affection of their marriage and his love for her, it was simply written across his face. Jack was a great Detective, a wonderful friend to our family and as we found out when my sister and Jack entirely cleared out a dance floor one night, a great dancer! Sending heartfelt condolences to Rita, Patrick, Michael and Jackie...Michelle, Paula, Brenda and Paul Whelan.
