Eleanor A. (Ghiloni) DeMaria, 85, of Milford died Tues., October 8, 2013 after an illness. She was the wife of Nicholas J. DeMaria. Mrs. DeMaria was employed as a childrens librarian for 29 years for the Town of Milford, retiring in 1994. She was born March 23, 1928 in Marlborough, daughter of the late Christopher and Alice (Dwyer) Ghiloni. A resident of Milford since 1947, she was a graduate of the former St. Annes Academy in Marlborough and had attended Boston University. Mr. & Mrs. DeMaria observed their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 2012. Eleanor was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford where she had served as a former CCD Teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 59 in Milford where she had served as a past president, the VFW
Auxiliary Post #2331 of Ashland, Sons of Italy# 1356 Milford Lodge, the Worcester County Installing Team American Legion Auxiliary; a Cub Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America and a Campfire Girls Inc. Blue Bird Leader. In addition to her husband Nicholas, she is survived by a son Michael A. DeMaria and his companion Susan Doyle of Milford; four daughters, Jo-Ann D. and her husband David Morgan of Hopkinton, Ellie Peoples of Auburn, Paula McCarthy of Darien, CT and Nicole D. and her husband Leo Grace of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan DeMaria of Hopedale, Mary-Elizabeth Morgan Monroy and her husband Christopher Monroy of Worcester, Liam McCarthy and Devon McCarthy both of Darien, CT, and Mikaela DeMaria of Milford, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Louis Ghiloni and two sisters Ann Bozek and Marjorie Byrne. Funeral services will be held Sat. Oct. 12, 2013 at 9 AM from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St., Milford. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medway Rd. (Rte. 109), Milford. Visiting hours will be Fri. Oct. 11, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
