Jean F. Ozella

Mrs. Jean F. (McCormack) Ford Ozella, 89, of Milford MA, died Thursday (April 25, 2013) at her residence after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Sharkey Ozella and the late John Ford. Mrs. Ozella was born in Capella, Queensland Australia the daughter of the late Michael H. and the late Esther M. (Ring) McCormack. She attended grammar schools in Australia as a young girl. Mrs. Ozella met her first husband, the late John Ford, while attending nursing school in Brisbane Australia and in 1946 she was transported on the USS Monterey with her fellow 562 war brides to San Francisco CA. She then traveled by train across country to Worcester MA and settled in Milford MA. Mrs. Ozella later owned and operated Sharkeys Diner, located in Milford MA with her late husband, Anthony Ozella, as well as Jeans Restaurant. She later started the longtime family catering business, known as Jeans Catering, which she was involved in until her recent decline in health. She also owned and operated the former Jeans Italian Vineyard restaurant located in Milford from 1975 to 1983. Mrs. Ozella was the driving force behind the well known charitable effort by herself, her family & her employees to provide Thanksgiving Day turkey dinners to the needy of the greater Milford community for many, many years. A practice that started at Jeans Italian Vineyard and continues to this day at Jeans Catering. Mrs. Ozella was the best mother and grandmother that anyone could want. Her faith was important to her and she loved the Lord. She was very giving and very forgiving. She was always a hard working woman who wanted to provide for her family and was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Ozella is survived by her 8 Children: Michael Ford and his wife Rose of Mendon MA, James Ford of Scottsdale AZ, Lawrence Ozella and his wife Carol of Milford MA, Josephine, wife of Brian Keefe of Norwood MA, Esta, wife of David Falvey of Milford MA, Joseph Ozella of Milford MA, Charles Ozella and his wife Charisse of Indianola IA and Tina Mabie of Milford MA; 1 Step-Son: Anthony Ozella Jr. of Dennis MA; also many Grandchildren & many Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister: Margaret Donovan of Capella, Queensland Australia; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ozella was the step-mother of the late David Ozella, the late Emmanuella Ozella, the late Ronald Ozella, the late Kathleen DeRoche and the late Paul Ozella. Her funeral will be held Monday (April 29th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA (www.edwardsmemorialfuneralhome.com) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (Upper Church), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Sunday (April 28th) from 2pm to 5pm.
