Stanley B. Macomber, Jr., 84, of Milford passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Beaumont Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge. He was the husband of Catherine Rose (Pope) Macomber. Mr. Macomber had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Ashland for 30 years before his retirement in 1986. Stanley was born December 4, 1928 in Newport, RI, the son of the late Stanley B. and Helen (Gorman) Macomber and attended Warren, RI schools. Mr. Macomber served for the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. Stanley was a Charter Member of VFW
Post 2331 in Ashland and the James OCarney American Legion Post 77 in Ashland. He enjoyed horses and raising them in his early life, and like most New Englanders he was a fan of both the Red Sox and Patriots. In addition to his wife, Catherine, Stanley is survived by his five children, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his sister Sally Tracey of Warren, RI, and his caregiver Robie Lamontagne, who treated Stanley like her own father. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Abate. A Celebration of Life with Eucharist will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress St., Milford. Visiting hours will be Tuesday Nov. 26, 2013 from 9:30- 10:30 AM in the BUMA- SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Burial with military honors will take place at Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford.
