Gale M. Stevens Obituary
Gale M. (Smith) Stevens, 61, of Uxbridge passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Fri. April 11, 2014 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. She was the wife of Brian M. Stevens Sr. Mrs. Stevens was the owner of the former Books & Books of Uxbridge for 11 years before her retirement in 2008. Gale was born July 31, 1952 in Whitinsville the daughter of the late Wallace L. and Lucy (Ross) Smith and had been a resident of Northbridge before moving to Uxbridge more than 40 years ago. She was a graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1970. Gale was a member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church and was active in the church's Harvest Festival and their clothing swap. She was also very involved in the organization of the annual Uxbridge side walk sales event held on Main Street every summer. Gale was an avid reader and loved caring for her grandchildren in their younger years. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens observed their 42nd wedding anniversary in Sept. 2013. In addition to her husband Brian, she is survived by her son Brian M. Stevens Jr. and his fiance Nikki Stewart both of Uxbridge, her daughter, Beth M. Stevens Harrop and her husband Richard Harrop of Uxbridge, 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Jocelyn and Hunter and her great granddaughter Jadalynn and her brother, Wallace Smith of Northbridge She was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Giemza. Visiting hours will be Wed. April 16, 2014 from 5-8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. (Rt. 122), Uxbridge. Funeral services will be held Thurs. April 17, 2014 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Uxbridge.
