James R. Chalmers, 61, of Second St., formerly of Milford and Uxbridge died Sun. June 8 at UMass surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his fiance Linda Marshall of 18 years with whom he lived; a daughter Shannon Giumetti and her husband Donald of Mattapoisett; a son Scott Chalmers of Uxbridge; 2 stepsons, Michael Marshall and his wife Tara and Morgan Marshall; 2 grandchildren, Benjamin Giumetti and Adrienne Marshall; a sister Debra Sarrwa of Uxbridge and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Walter A. Chalmers, Jr. and John Chalmers as well as a sister Judith Johnson. Born in Milford on Dec. 7, 1952 he was the son of Walter A. Sr. and Elaine (Frend) Chalmers and was a graduate of the Milford School System. Jim worked as a cleaner for the Washington Mills in Grafton and owned and operated his own carpet installation business. He was a big movie buff and especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Jim was a believer in relaxing and enjoying the simple things in life. His funeral will be held from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Fri. June 13 with a Mass at 10 am in St. Marys Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will follow in St. Marys cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thurs. June 12 from 4-7 pm.
