Lorraine Leong Allam 53, of Bellingham, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife for twelve years of John Allam, and the loving mother of Jay Allam. Born in Boston on September 22, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Quong Sam Leong and leaves her mother Kam Kwai (Yen) Leong of Brookline. She leaves her brothers, Leon Leong of Brookline and George Leong of Jamaica Plain, and her sister Judith (Leong) Atherton of Plymouth. She was the daughter-in-law of James N. and Jacqueline M. Allam of Woonsocket, RI. Lorraine was formerly of Boston, Quincy and Brookline before settling in Bellingham with her husband. She was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and earned her degree at the Boston Business School Executive Secretarial Program in 1980. Lorraine had twenty-six years of administrative experience in the sports, accounting, engineering, and education industries. She worked from 1980 - 1985 at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp . of Boston, 1985 - 1995 at Ernst & Young LLP of Boston, and 1995 - 2003 as the Executive Assistant to the Executive VP / General Manager, VP of Baseball Operations and Principal Owner of the Boston Red Sox Baseball Club. Lorraine served the Bellingham School District in several capacities. She was the Clerk for the Bellingham School Committee for several years, a PTO Board Member and a volunteer for the school and its various events at Stall Brook Elementary School. Lorraine served on the School Districts Safety Committee; was an active member on the Budget Review Committee; and was an appointed member on the Wellness Committee. She was also involved in fundraising events as well as after school activities including baseball and karate. Lorraine was a loving mom to Jay and a devoted wife to John. She devoted herself to Jay and was deeply involved in every aspect of his life. She always lived he r life caring and giving to all who knew her. Her unconditional generosity and contagious demeanor for life has touched families and friends alike. She had an unwavering loyalty and passion fo r the Red Sox and an equal drive for her study of karate. Lorraine will be greatly missed. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 11:00AM, at CARTIERS FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Friday, October 11th from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment at the Scott Cemetery, Center St., Bellingham will be held at a later date.
