Edith Evelyn (Look) Francis, 94, passed away at the Blaire House in Milford on Saturday, March 8th, after a brief illness. Born in Hopedale and a life-long resident of the town, Edith was the daughter of the late Roswell and Florence (Whitney) Look. Her husband, William J. Francis II passed away in 1965 and her son, William J. Francis III in 1991. Edith was also predeceased by her brothers Richard and Merle Look and by her grandsons Ryan and Corey Francis. Mrs. Francis is survived by her children, Linda Varney of Mendon; Richard Francis and his wife Patricia of Conway, South Carolina; Geraldine and her husband Henry Cyr of Grafton; Chester Francis and his wife Eileen of Hopedale; and Mark Francis of Hopedale. She leaves 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Roberta Simmons of Hopedale; a brother, Robert Look and his wife Dorothy of Erieville, NY; her daughter-in-law, C. Joanne Francis of Hopedale; 2 sisters-in-law, Theresa Look of Alexandria, Virginia and Dorothy Francis of Upton; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Hopedale High School Class of 1936 and of Becker College in Worcester, Edith held a variety of management positions d uring her working life and was the owner of ELF Realty, a residential real estate company. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 5 - 8 PM in the Buma-Sargent Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford. A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 10 AM in the Hopedale Unitarian Parish, 65 Hopedale St., Hopedale. Burial will follow at the Hopedale Village Cemetery. Edith will be remembered for her courage and devotion to her family after losing her husband so early in their married life and for her enjoyment of nature, especially the birds and flowers. Ediths family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and specialists at Milford Hospital for the skilled and caring treatment she received during her recent stay. The family is especially grateful to everyone at the Blaire House for the loving and supportive care they gave Edith over the past three years. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
