Obituary Condolences

Ronald Berry, 93, of Hopedale passed away on Sunday April 20, 2014 at the Blaire House of Milford. He was the husband of Edith M. (Souther) Berry. Mr. Berry was a mechanical engineer specializing in loom manufacturing at the former Draper Corp./Rockwell International in Hopedale for more than 20 years where he held several patents and was a dedicated employee. Mr. Berry was born April 16, 1921 in Bolton, England the son of the late Walter C. and Lizzie S. (Ashley) Berry and had been a resident of England and Rhode Island before moving to Hopedale in 1956. He earned his National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from Stockport College in England. Mr. Berry served with the British Army/Royal Engineers during WW II. Mr. and Mrs. Berry observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in Sept. 2013. Ronald was a dedicated husband and father and his family meant everything to him. In his early years he held a pilots license and flew planes out of the Lincoln, RI airport. He enjoyed skiing, sailing and jalopy car racing. Ronald had a passion for working on cars. In addition to his wife Edith, he is survived by his daughter, Glynis M. Berry and her husband Hideaki Ariizumi of Orient, NY, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Rae M. Berry. The family is appreciative of the care given to Ronald by all the staff at Blaire House of Milford. Visiting hours will be held Wed. April 23, 2014 from 10-11 AM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services will be held on Wed. April 23, 2014 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
