David Duprey, 78, of Hopedale passed away Mon. April 21, 2014 in the St. Camillus Health Center, Northbridge. He was the husband of Nellie (Ramos) Duprey. Mr. Duprey was a supervisor of toll collectors on the Massachusetts Turnpike for 20 years. He was born on June 25, 1935 in Puerto Rico, son of the late Esmeraldo and Evangelia (Texidor) Duprey, and lived in Hopedale for 39 years. Mr. Duprey was an Army Veteran, serving in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Also, while in the service, he earned his Petroleum Supply Specialist certificate. Mr. and Mrs. Duprey were to have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on May 19th of this year. Mr. Duprey was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and his family meant the world to him. He loved watching boxing on television, and was a boxer in the Army while stationed in Korea. He also loved the NY Yankees, animals of all kinds, and listening to Latin music. He enjoyed his weekend travels with his lovely wife, especially to Canada, and to Connecticut to visit his nieces and nephews. He played the clarinet as a youngster. In addition to his wife Nellie, he leaves in his immediate family his eldest daughter Yvette Duprey of Hopedale, his second son Ivan Duprey of Hopedale, and his youngest son Kevin Duprey of RI. Additionally he also leaves his first son from a previous marriage David Duprey Jr. of New York, three grandchildren, including his grandson Raymond Duprey, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Octavio Reyes. Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5-8 PM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale St., Hopedale. Burial will follow at Hopedale Village Cemetery, Route 16, Hopedale.
